Discover the São Mateus grotto, also known as the “cathedral” due to its imposing geological formations.
Visiting the São Mateus Grotto means feeling like standing in front of beautiful works of art. A nice tour that starts with a visit to the Kadiwéu Museum, which shows a collection of utensils and pieces from ancient residents of the southern region of Mato Grosso. On a 320 meter long path to the grotto, the tourist walks over a suspension bridge in the riparian forest of Terra firme, observing the beautiful landscape of the cerrado vegetation and a privileged view of the city of Bonito. Several speleothemes can be observed in the cave, such as: stalactites, stalagmites, coralloids and travertines, with an emphasis on the stalagmite that has the shape of the Tower of Pisa. They are incredible formations, carefully carved, lighted and with a structure that allows tourists to see them from different angles.
